Reply to "Atlas Trainman 4750 hoppers"

Falconservice,

It seems Atlas pulls cars at random without thought of schemes that came in order.

The SCL yellow 4750 should've been done years ago & rerun by now. A Chessie 4750 should've come along in a close time period with this yellow SCL hopper,as the Chessie System was formed in the early '70s.

The '70s Family Lines System 4750 scheme should've followed in the '77 time frame. Atlas did 4 cars of this version with LN reporting letters, but an SCL car should have been included, maybe 2 cars for each railroad for that 1 scheme.

The Pullman Standard version of 4750s for the Family Lines System, lots 1110 for SCL&1110B for L&N,were built in the 1980-'81 time frame. This scheme saw the "square" carrying the "Georgia,Clinchfield,West Point Route," lettering on the right side of the hoppers, whereas the '77 version saw the "square" on the left hand side of the hoppers. Lettering sizes, etc.,also saw changes on these later cars.

Then came formation of the Seaboard System, which replaced the Family Lines scheme.

SCL&later the other raillines comprising the Seaboard System, merged to form modern day CSX.

I don't know if we can rely on Atlas to do these schemes or not. I'm,(let me think),lol,58& have all of these schemes well represented in HO models. Can I rely on Atlas to come out with these schemes in the next few years? At my age,I don't have 20 years to wait on them.  I have no positive or negative indication from Atlas I can expect any of these cars soon.

In addition to these models,Atlas still NEEDS to come out with letters & numbers for their cars so those of us running trains of more than 2-4 cars can change numbers! When all numbers of a certain car aren't available this would be a great help too. Also,in the case where a yellow SCL car is being modeled in the CSX era,the SCL reporting letters & numbers could be restecilled to represent a CSXT car, which Atlas is certainly NOT going to do a restencilled run of cars because of lack of demand,so this would be a nice solution for modelers so they could do this.

Given the small response of modelers that would like to see ANY of the cars mentioned, plus the small O Scale market vs other scales,I doubt we who do want these models will ever see them. If the market's that small,if i were in Atlas "shoes," i can understand their attitude concerning production-you can't sell what's not wanted.

So if I want these cars, sell out my O scale & stay with what I have in HO or custom decorate.

Again,my 2 cents on this situation as I see it at this point.
