I like reading the front page from the old Rocky Mountain News. 100 years ago today was kind of interesting. "Railroad executives Declare Strike is Fight to the Finish" with the subheading "Union Chiefs Plan Further Moves for Compromise."  It doesn't look like the friendliest of strikes, though, because further down the page are Three smaller articles. "Firemen Quit. Tie Up Traffic East of Pueblo - Missouri Pacific Trains are Halted by New Walkout - Passengers Stranded in Desert" followed by a report from North Bergen, NJ "Bombs Hurled at Train on Bridge - 10 Passengers Hurt - Flames Sweep Roundhouse, 15 Locomotives Burn" and finally "Former UP Conductor Found in Civic Center Park with Bullet in Heart"

It wasn't all strike news when it came to the railroads, though.  Columbia, NC - "1 Killed, 2 Injured when Train Jumps the Track.

News isn't all bad though as John L. Lewis is predicting an end to the coal strike.

Just some tidbits of history that people often forget.
