Auxiliary power for tiu

What is the preferred power source for the tiu? I'm running aZ4000 to power the track and did have aZ1000 plugged into the tiu but wanted to take the Z1000 to run the track around the Christmas tree. Will a Z500 work well as auxiliary power for the tiu and does anyone have on for sale? Thanks
