Basic RailKing v. Imperial: N&W 4-8-4 J

Has anyone ever done a side-to-side comparison of a basic RK 4-8-4 J (like from the older RTR sets) and an Imperial model of the equivalent? I'm having difficulty finding photos with enough detail to make a real comparison. I know the Imperials have better detailing in general but how pronounced is it? Also, are the Imperials any larger than the basic RKs?

Thanks in advance for answering a rookie's questions.
