The prototype unit that we used Saturday was an older V0.5 model that has some crossover distortion that creates the spur. This doesn't bother the FM FSK data, but V1.0 uses a different set of parts that don't have the crossover distortion. My two V1.0 units are at Milwaukee and New Jersey.
