Interesting, as I have noticed that also. Why do all the exquisite SCALE freight cars have that "blt by Lionel" and the date, stenciled on each side, down on the side-sill? The few 50 foot, wood deck flat cars produced by Lionel, that I purchased, had that on the sides, so I removed it then had them weathered.
