From what I am reading, size is not what makes an item scale but more the exact detail combined with size.
No, fidelity to SIZE is what makes it SCALE.

I have never seen that visibly displayed on locomotives, only freight cars.
Have you noticed the manufacture name on your car/truck, they even have the dealers name.
In current times, the "dealers name" is optional, or is simply a license plate frame. As to the manufacturer, if one can't tell a BMW from a VW, from a Ford,,,,,,then I believe you have a problem.
Oh well, I would not know scale unless it was it is a large engine/rolling stock.
Well then, I guess you really aren't concerned with this "SCALE" discussion.
All my toys run in circles and when they break, to the trash they go.
