Reply to "Boxcar Unloading and Loading Docks"

I spent some time in Budd’s Hunting Park plant. This plant made a variety of things, including automobile sheet metal stamping. This plant was cramped for space, so they had an interesting way of loading the high cube boxcars with the stamping. As I recall the loading area had a dock 4 cars long. There was a small yard three tracks wide. When they were loading there would be 12 cars, strings of 4 on the 3 tracks. They would open all the doors and put bridge plates between the cars and the dock and between the doorways of the cars  on the adjacent tracks.   This way they could load all 12 cars from a four car dock.

That's impressive!
