Reply to "BQX - NYC Streetcars: 1956 - Brooklyn's Last Trolleys"

In the 1940s & 1950s I lived at 1620 Ocean Av. between Av K & L. The Peter Witt 8000 series trolley cars ran on Ocean Av. into 1952. My mother's mother lived at 1464 Coney Island Av also between Av K & L. at the same time. I use to walk to her home via Av. K and when I got to Coney Island Av. and before crossing to the other side of Coney Island Av. I would stand at that corner and which the PCC trolley cars pass by. Her living room windows faced Coney Island Av. so I would take a chair and sit by one of the windows and again watch the PCC cars pass by. They ran until October of 1956. The following month she passed away so I didn't have any reason to ever go back there again. By the way the Vogue movie theatre was just across the street from her home until it was turned into a nursing home at about the same time she passed away.
