Well the new Lionel version can't compare to the MTH Premier Genesis, and the new Atlas Genesis versions, for sure.

Thats for sure Lionel needs a to make a siemens charger vs p42 legacy scale. These are 14 inch not 21 inch. The speed control is like a toy, it too basic. The MTH Premier Genesis, and the new Atlas Genesis versions are so much better. What market did Lionel go for not the scale market. Sunset Model are but they are lionel TMCC control and rail sound 5. but they are scale.

I have an MTH Premier model, which I love, as well as the smaller WBB models, and I agree, but why the complaints?

I think you're comparing apples to oranges.

Is it not clear that these Lionchief 2.0 offerings are RailKing or WBB competition and not Premier?  They are definitely not scale and weren't intended to sell into the scale part of the market.

By the way @Zigmont just what is "The speed control is like a toy".  Maybe that's because it is a toy?  If you're referring to the typical LionChief controller then you need to know that LC 2.0 locos don't come with one.  You can operate them with the "toy-like" LionChief universal remote (6-83071), but just as easily with a Cab-1/Base-1 (TMCC), Cab-1L/Base-1L, or a Cab-2/Base-2 (Legacy) remote, or your smartphone.

Lionel bought the rights to MTH's tooling for these engines.  Since they didn't for the scale-sized ones it would make sense that they have no intention of offering scale-sized ones.

While we're comparing apples and oranges lets throw in walnuts as well.  The idea of an O gauge/scale Charger has been bantered about on this forum many, many, many times over the last 9 months or so.  The problem is licensing.  However on this it looks like someone has finally secured a license, or is about to -- 3rd Rail, as you say.

Will 3rd Rail's Charger be pricey?  Yes.  Will it be good?  Yes, unless you want something less expensive.

In the near future it looks like you'll get your wish.  But probably not from Lionel.
