One solution would be to make the doors fixed and not operable.  I think that is the biggest detraction from most non-brass cars and locomotives.  The doors just never close quite right and there is a huge gap.  Making the doors fixed would go a long way towards making the vestibules more robust.  However, I have never had an issue of couplers coming off on mine.

I’d be for fixed doors. I never got why working doors were important. 🤔 Perhaps the fixed door would make assembly easier - a good thing. 😉
