Fellows,
Thanks for your input. As I already noted, Lionel does not have the motor/sensor available. Pulling the gear and pressing it onto the matching MTH motor in hand, while daunting maybe the only fix for me. I will contact Lionel before proceeding.

Eric, You need the magnet flywheel, no? An MTH motor won't help help here. Replace the flywheel on your motor and keep the gear where it is. You still need a puller.

I made mine from square tubing.
