CAB-2 vs CAB-1L/BASE-1L

Hi Everyone

What is the difference between the Cab-2 and the Cab-1L/Base-1L

I know the cab-2 is no longer available

Can they both run in command and conventional mode ?

In conventional mode can they run Lionel & MTH ?
