California Zephyr Advice / Recommendations

Hello everyone,

My wife and I, along with some of her family, are going to be taking the California Zephyr from Chicago to San Francisco (Emeryville, CA). I am looking for any advice or recommendations while on the train or at stations. Is there a side of the train I should request my sleeping quarters, or where I should try to sit? I would love to hear everyone's experiences?
