Can motors

Anyone have a suggestion for a tool or a procedure to remove the flywheel and worm gear from a can motor ? I have a MTH 2-6-0 with a cooked can motor. I have found the same motor on line for $5 but it doesn't come with the flywheel or worm gear. $60 for a used but complete one.
