Can someone catch me up on the Lionel and MTH control systems?

I’ve been out of O scale for about 12 years now, while I was dabbling in HO. We all come crawling back to O scale eventually haha.

I’m currently planning a ceiling suspended layout with two individual loops (no turnouts).

My locomotives consist of MTH PS2 and PS3 models and Lionel early-mid 2000’s all the way up to a few legacy equipped models. I only ever had an early TMCC Cab1 remote.
So my question is what all control systems and power do I need to buy to run all my existing equipment as well as newer equipment? And yes I know I will have to probably pay through the nose for a Lionel Legacy remote. I know Lionel wants customers to use their smart devises, but a prefer the handheld remotes.

Just for reference, I’ll need to power a 14’x14’ around the room loop (56 linear feet).
