Can you help me id this Americam Flyer set?

As a youngster my mother and dad bought me an American Flyer freight set for Christmas. Unfortunaley, due to a house fire about 25 years ago the outer and inner boxes were destroyed by smoke damage and had to be dispoosed of, but the trains were salvaged relatively unscathed and I still have them today.

I'm trying to ascertain the dating of this set which includeds a 4-4-2 300AC steam locomotive with a Reading Lines tender, grey hopper 64, red caboose 638, a silver single dome Gulf tank car 625G [which I believe was purchased seperately] and a yellow boxcar 639.

Help in identifying what set this was and the year[s] available would be appreciated. I believe it was likely from the end of the 1940's or beginning of the 50's.
