I want the CAB3 but I don't think I'll gain anything until I get a locomotive that needs 4 digit addressing. I only have the CAB2 and CAB1L. My CAB2 base is working fine for now.
Will Visionline/Legacy engines have the 4 digit addressing system going forward? Does anybody know?

Yes they will be trickled in over time and if you watch the lionel video discussing the catalog they tell you all this stuff.
