The former MTH tooled 0-6-0 engine is shown in the catalog paired with Lionel's 0-8-0 tender which I thought was interesting. The gap they are showing may not be what it actually ends up being when it's made. Did Lionel just get the tooling for the locomotive and not the tender to save money? Is this something that is typically done? Maybe they felt their tender was a better representation of the prototype.
It probably has more to do with having an existing tender with Legacy components fitted and that was the easier path to getting it going.
