ceiling or shelf layout ideas needed.

I was looking into the idea of putting together a layout in the living area of the basement that is close to the ceiling. About 6 to 8 inches from the ceiling. It would go around the entire area. Does anyone have any pictures of what's been done that's blends well with a room? At this point I am open to some sort of a shelf or anything really. I plan on running o54 curves. Thanks Bob
