Reply to "Change a Can Motor for an Open Frame Motor"

Thank you all for your input.  After doing some much needed research and reading the comments here and talking with others about this, I've decided to leave my Brutes as they are.  More than likely the project would have a lot of trouble, now that I think about it, and probably wouldn't haven't yielded the final product results that I wanted, which is truly a very traditional Brute without the modern electronics that make it go.

ROYBOY - What I was really after was a Brute in the most traditional sense possible.  Open frame motors, ozone and everything that goes along with it.  I love the simplicity of the train without the electronics.

HAPPY PAPPY - My Brutes are in brand new condition and to take them apart to accomplish this would more than likely been more than I was prepared to deal with.  My Brutes will stay exactly as they are but I will be on the hunt for something a lot more used that I could tinker/experiment.

HOJACK - Now you've given me food for thought.  Live pantographs!  I've had LGB trains in the past and am familiar with the pantograph system that LGB uses.  The idea seems very promising and I'll you know how I make out.

Thank you all for your comments.  Much appreciated!!!
