BobbyD posted:Is there a GG1 book too?
So far we have:
1=C&O H-7, 2=Bi Polar, 3=USRA 2-8-8-2, 4=NP 4-8-4, 5=PRR Q's, 6=PRR K-4, 7=Van Berks, 8=PRR M-1, 9=NH EP-5
Fortunately, much has been published about the GG-1 though I’m not aware of any Classic Power series books on this motor. The first book that comes to mind would be “The Remarkable GG-1” by Karl Zimmermann, a great primer but only b/w photos. Next, I’d suggest Morning Sun’s “Pennsy Electric Years” vols 1&2.
My uncle was an engineer for the PRR and finished his career running that motor from NY-DC and return BEFORE the elimination of all grade crossings in the NE corridor. Sadly, he was involved in some horrific grade crossing accidents involving cars/trucks.
