Command Engine only runs at full speed

Looking for help.

I did try to search for this problem, but did not find a similar post.

Recently I had been running a Lionel TMCC M-10000 unit (Century Club) edition.

After about an hour the train stopped but lights sound etc. were still operating.

When I started to accelerate the train, it jumped all the way to full speed. Either stopped or full, nothing in between.

Here are the specifics:

Had been running about an hour with no problems.

Smoke: Off

Sound: Working

Reprogramed: Yes

Reset: Yes (#4)

Same result with Cab 1 and Cab 2

Other engines on the layout worked just fine.

At this point can I assume this is a "Motor Driver" board issue or could there be another, less expensive fix?

This is the first ever TMCC electrical issue I have ever encountered.

Any thoughts?
