Joe, sounds like the Williams locomotives I upgraded. With a 44:1 gear ratio, they maxed out at about 40 scale MPH, and the motor was screaming! Actually, with the Williams motor, they only made it a little over 30 scale MPH, I put in a Mabuchi 555 and managed to get a bit more top end.
