Just some thoughts:
-- I changed some #6 switches to #11's, so the sidings on the left and in the yard would be parallel.
-- I added another switch to the yard as well as some spacers so the sidings have the same spacing.
-- I changed the colors so I could better see what tracks were at what elevations and changed those so the orange tracks are at 8" elevation, the purple tracks are on grades and the blue tracks are at 0" elevation.
-- I see you essentially have 2 large folded loops that don't connect to each other (2nd and 3rd photos). As a result the yard only serves one loop. I placed some temporary crossovers on top of the tracks to show where/how they could be added (4th photo).
-- The reversing loop seems a little useless because it's really too big to back all the way through to reverse a 2nd time and that's the only way to get to a town if you put one in the loop. Unfortunately I don't see an alternative or a way to add another revering loop other than what you mentioned.
