Reply to "CRG Layout - Room Planning"

measuring, cleaning, measuring, walls going up, more measuring, and... a new plan.

Each of these plans has taught me much about the space, my wants, and such. Elevation changes, while providing the opportunity for longer runs seem to sacrifice too much.

So, this layout is flat. I started it with some elevation. First I will post the original thought and where it has evolved.  -

https://ogrforum.ogaugerr.com/...ng---made-in-germany  <--inspiration for the core feature of this version, lthough it evolved, I feel the need to pay my respects.

So my original idea. In short, the main feature was in the top left (back) corner of the layout. The front was 5" low, this is something I wanted. A small elevation change. I wanted a low are with concrete walls, and I can really see this feature. However the elevation shifts (even less than 8"), and fitting in switching features just didn't seem to come to me.

And so came this version (well many between). Green Items would be shadow box back drop type structures. Yellow standard industry buildings. Red was one I was not happy with.  I dont currently have specific industries for these in  mind.  I am thinking of making that green by the tunnel, and the tunnel more of an urban ridge (raised road feature) for a view block.

first the upper right spure is very future, and just a place holder for now.

Dark green is the main route. Yellow = reversing loops. Purple = industry spurs. ]

This version can probably use a lot of revisions, but I am starting to get the hang of SCARM and Ross switches and their different angles.  The upper middle, I am reflecting on incorporating a passenger station there. The idea is the upper area is the residential (downtown/midtown). Black Rectangles are access points.

The yard is more for staging 4 trains, that blocking. I am sure the yard and engine tracks could use some tweaking.

Operations, the idea is I can do switching operations while a train runs the main. I have never run a single main (I basically only the one N layout before) but I think it allows more layout options, and adds more operations interest in having to manage trains.

I originally had the layout coming to the edge of the left Post (red dot). However as I tweaked I was able to reduce the layout some and give more leisure space.

and that as they say is that.
