Picture of smoke unit would help; but typically the answer is yes. On lionels basic fan smoke unit, they had a solder trace you could remove to allow independent AC input to the DC Fan motor circuit. Hence the 2 red or brown AC inputs. The rest of the circuit uses a common ground so just one black wire, plus the body of the smoke unit also acts like a ground. IF that trace is bridged you only really need one red. When smoke unit gets power so does the fan circuit. G
