I like the motor control of the Cruse commander M, 32 or 100 speed steps. On my large layout 22x30. I can have several trains on the same track an lash them up and keep the engines spaced apart with fewer worries. And I can run more trains.😀

you might start with the simplest thing Reprogramming R2LC Circuit board.
