Our club president who is also a member of the Collis P. Huntington Chapter told us tonight, that 300 CSX folks lost their jobs at Erwin, Tenn. Supposedly the operations group at Shelbiana, Ky is suppose to hear something tomorrow about their future. His son use to run down the James River from Clinton Forge, Va to Richmond, and had to take a job running from Louisville to Nashville, Tenn. Any job beats "No Job".
It seems unimaginable that they could shut the whole Big Sandy Division down. He told us their plans on rerouting the freight of the mountains thru Clifton Forge, then on south and east, and all of the money the CSX will save by shutting down this division.
It's hard for me to believe that 1 man, elected to the highest office in the land, could over see destroying the Coal Industry.
He was also telling us about the problems with in the government concerning the PTC, and that will be another interesting subject to jaw about, sure glad I'm not commuting to work on a train........................................Brandy!
