I couldn't believe how fast they did this, and how quick and hard a blow it was for the town.

My folks grew up not too far from there, and dad remembers seeing all the CRR steam engines lined up at Erwin for scrapping in the late 50s and early 60s. Several Challengers were lined up there at one point...
