I seem to remember that a bent paper clip would work. Bend the paper clip so you have a pin at right angle to the remaining clip. Screw the clip to the rotating base. Adjust the clip pin to achieve alignment. Always seemed to me that a set of adjustable alignment reflector brackets would be a wonderful addition to the indexer kit. My turntable indexer has been installed for 20 years but I've never installed the detector/reflectors due to the effort involved with alignment reflector fabrication, installation and alignment.
I keep looking for an encoder based indexer as a replacement. There are a couple on the market that I'm aware of however neither are drop in kits that support "stop anywhere" control for my Bowser table.
