Good afternoon I am branching out into MTH and their DCS system. My question is if I want to only run MTH DCS locomotives do I need the TIU as well as the remote or only the DCS remote. Thank you for any help you are able to offer.

You must have both, i.e. the TIU and the Hand Held Remote, which "talks to" the TIU.
