DCS Remote - won't power up

The DCS hand held remote has not been used for around two years. Tried to power up, pressing the on/off button, and nothing happened. Replaced the four batteries and tried again. Zip. Nothing shows on the screen. The MTH dealer near us is no longer from what I can tell so no help there.

Any ideas?
