On my remote, one of the.. terminals? - (the ends the battery touches) is oddly recessed. I had to put a pad inside my back cover to push the battery in place. To check this, keep the back off, push all the batteries in place and try. You should also be able to spot 1 or more of the tabs as oddly out of line, if this is the case.

My batteries come loose in mine too. I cut a thick cardstock business card to fit between the cover and the batteries. I have used it that way for years since.
