My batteries come loose in mine too. I cut a thick cardstock business card to fit between the cover and the batteries. I have used it that way for years since.

I picked up a few of these from Dave Hikel at York a couple years back before COVID. They work great and don't put any strain on the battery cover latch that usually results in breaking it.
