Reply to "Design of a $10-20 DCS-TIU Port Tester Tool?"

That would make them more accurate for the calibration, that's for sure.

If I want to check the actual track signal on the track, I do it with a 'scope and a hi-pass filter to knock out the 60hz power and leave the DCS signal.

I use my MUSTOOL MDS8207 Intelligent Digital Storage Scopemeter and the simple filter to check actual DCS levels on the track.  I can wander around a layout and measure at various points to see how the signal strength changes at different points.

 

The filter board connects to the track on the left, and to the 'scope on the right.  It's just four .01uf caps and four 10k resistors.  Adrian was nice enough to post this, I just copied it.
