Reply to "Did MTH not make many of the Premier Phase V Genesis locos?"

The first run (2003?) was a special run for Walthers 2 powered and a dummy road number was made (180, 204, 193). I dont know how they sold at first (I think slowly because it was kind of word of mouth that they even existed), but they were really hot on the secondary market and could sell for double MSRP on ebay. They came out with another run in the same scheme a few years ago, but goofed the numbers in the catalog (they cataloged 700-series P32AC-DMs) so I bet a lot of people passed. Word got to MTH in time I guess, because they delivered regular P42 numbers when they ultimately came in, but I'm sure the quantity was low because the catalog messup deterred people from ordering. (Personally, I didnt order because I didnt actually believe they'd fix it, even though they ultimately did). They just made the original Phase V with the thick blue frame stripe. It was delivered around February.  I dont know how those did... The problem with the Genesis is that if they catalog it, your choices are Amtrak, Amtrak, Amtrak, Amtrak and maybe NJT or VIA. So its hard to get a big quantity ordered, as you're basically tapping out the same bunch of guys who want Amtrak over and over on the same catalog page.
