Since it's extremely unlikely that this is a hardware issue, there are really only 2 things that you can try doing:

Replace the engine's sound file with one that's posted on MTH's web page for the engine. If this is a PS3 engine as opposed to a PS2 engine (you didn't specify), you should also replace the engine's firmware (Chain File).
Upgrade to DCS 5.0.
