How would you tell the difference? Jet fuel would burn just fine in an oil-fired steam locomotive, the only differences would be that you'd have different jets in the firebox and you wouldn't need to heat the fuel before pumping it out of the tender. It would be expensive, though. Bunker oil is a lot cheaper per BTU than JP-4.
