Have been thinking recently about MTH HO. Now that our layout is gone and we have very little space available, I'm thinking about a single ine of HO track on my bench and am intrigued by the good smoke and sounds that I've read about. Have not seen any MTH HO on a layout yet however.
Do only a few the diesels smoke? I like the yellow Santa Fe F7 AB but the catalog doesn't mention smoke.
These little buggas aren't cheap either!

For a lot of the same reasons that you mentioned, I have recently started an HO layout using MTH locomotives. I have an ALCO PA that smokes, but the F3 and F7's do not have smoke.
For that reason, I have been trying to stay with steam. I'm attaching a short video to give you an idea what they look like in action.
