I have one of these also. It's Proto 1 - replace the MTH battery with a BCR and save yourself some aggravation. Depending on your transformer, you may or may not hear sound. Won't hear them with modern Lionel 135 and 180 power bricks for sure. Will definitely hear them with any MTH transformer. Not sure about ZW, KW, or Z transformers.
