When Using A The MTH 50-1019 Proto-Sound 2.0 Battery Charger Does It Bypass The Circuit Board?

I have a 2001 PS 2.0 engine with the 5 volt/8.4 volt board/battery with a charging port and I was wondering is using this charger is safe considering the prone to failure circuit board? I have discarded the white battery and plan on installing a new one.
