Reply to "Ease my fears or steer me away from Gargraves Flex . . ."

Just a note on cutting track, I prefer to use a hobby razor saw to cut my Ross and Gargraves track. I just clamp both sides to keep the individual rails from moving as I saw. Even with the larger diameter Dremel cutoff wheels, my cuts tend to be skewed since there is no way to get the Dremel motor exactly parallel to the track. (Obviously not an issue for end cuts) As a result I then have to square the rail edges with a file.  The razor saw cuts cleanly and requires little if any cleanup to the cut edges.

Regarding the plastic ties vs the wooden ties - every once in a while I over drill track screws into the roadbed. With Gargraves plastic ties the v-shaped groove which holds the track is damaged is a real pain to repair. Wood ties simply crack and to me, let me know when I am going too deep. My preference is to use the Gragraves flex with wood ties or Ross. I also prefer to use the black pan head track screws - they tend to be un-noticeable.
