Electro coupler melting

Hi there. I am a new member and this is my first post. I just got back into the hobby a little over a year ago and I am loving it so far.

I am having an issue where I purchased a Lionmaster T1 Duplex with Legacy on EBay. The engine works great except the other day I pressed the rear coupler button on my CAB 1 L remote and the buzzing wouldn’t stop for about 10 seconds. The second time I pressed the rear coupler button the buzzing wouldn’t stop until I cut off power to the layout. I also saw smoke and the insulation around the coupler had pretty much burned off. Now I am not holding the button down at all and I only have a single loop of track at the moment so no switches were involved.

Has anybody encountered this at all? I already ordered another coupler but I want to make sure that will fix the issue.
