Reply to "EMD E unit electrical system redundancy question"

Sam Jumper,

For what it's worth, I wouldn't believe that author even if he stated that the sun rises in the east, and sets in the west! I'll double check it myself tonight. Plus, he NEVER, ever worked for EMC/EMD either.

Edit/added:

Apparently the author has never seen all the different drawings, Maintenance Instructions, and Modernization Recomendations (furnished to ANY and all customers) pertaining to how to rebuild/re-machine EMC/EMD major components/parts, how to layout a locomotive service & maintenance shop, nor how to purchase various service/maintenance tooling directly from EMC/EMD.

As far as the PRR "purchasing EMD", does ANYONE actually believe that General Motors Corporation would even consider such a thing, after investing all that money purchasing Electro-Motive Engineering Co. and Winton Engine Co. (both located in Cleveland, OH), back in the late 1920s/early 1930s? Then there was the huge investment in all that land in McCook, IL with the new factory designed and built by the Austin Co., completed in 1934.
