Engine has no sounds

Recently picked up a chessie MTH railking SW1 switcher. Engine runs in forward and reverse and couplers fire up in DCS. No sound. I used the battery charger on the unit for about 12 hours. Is the lack of sound most likely a bad speaker, bad battery, or bad board?
