Thanks for jumping in Pappy. The pin is NOT too short - it extends thru the 'exit hole' as far as the one that is still in place. It's only a micrometer but it does fit all the way thru correctly.

I will get it fixed eventually - I just HAVE to find a way to make it thru the Christmas season while my layout is up.
