Hi All, not sure if this will help anyone in the future, probably was already solved given this was from 2019 but it came up for me. I have the Alco C420 from the 2019 Catolog p/n 1933430 I just bought. Found this thread after it wouldn't rev up for me. Lionel told me the only way to get revs out of these is to have the legacy remote. They said the 2020 models will rev with the universal remote. Maybe the 2019 models but she didn't know for sure. So that is a big bummer, probably wouldn't have bought it if i knew this prior. Oh well. I like the simplicity of the universal remote, especially with kiddos running them. But instead of buying a second universal remote for future locomotives I may have to spend the $$ on the legacy remote. Will see.
Also agree with the steam being a notch above, they are so cool to run, watch the moving parts, steam whistle and so on but seeing some diesels you see today is cool too. Only diesels on my radar will be ones that kiddos & I see in our area like Amtrak and Canadian National with bluetooth that can run on 036, rest will be steam.
