This issue is not limited to RR sets. The R27 subway and the Acela (with the 6 cars) are underpowered and I run the R27 with only 4 of the cars (other two in the box after it did not run smoothly with the 6 car consist) and I ran the Acela with 4 or 5 cars. With the 6 car set it did not run well.
