Reply to "Factory reset of a working TIU"

To all Those who have replied, THANK YOU!  This is the first time I have ever used the internet to find an answer to a problem and it is great idea.   As for my problem:  I feel I may have two issues, the first is that when I replaced the broken thumb wheel on the remote, a small "rubber band" fell out.  I assume it is some sort of an insulator that prevents shorts on the PC board.  I could not determine where it belongs.  As for the reset issue, I do read that it is TUI #1 but I cannot read the TIU version which leads me to believe that I am not communicating with the TIU from the DCS Remote control.  I tried the remote with the Radio and the headset cord to the TIU with the same results so I don't believe it's the radio side of the system.  My system is over 7 Years old and has worked like a charm 3 days ago.  All was fine until I got lazy and wanted to install it on my new layout.  Instead of leaving well enough alone and editing the data, I figured I'd simply "clear it all out" and start from scratch.  As old as I am, I still haven't learned to leave well enough alone.
